Enoch laughs, like this is a normal gesture from a loving nan. "She accused me of having a tan. We're all tainted in her eyes." He pauses for a second, realizing he said all and not both. "One time I thought to spare myself the headache and go without notifying anyone, but they somehow found out anyway. Cue an unbelievable guilt trip. My working theory is that someone on that side is a secret Liminal with nosiness powers."
She gives a flicker of acknowledgement but nothing else at the word slip, because it doesn't matter. "I don't think they need it? That power's been like, in their blood for centuries. And I'm pretty sure they put trackers on us at birth?"
Enoch snaps his fingers. "That's it. I wondered about that persistent beeping noise at night." Something occurs to him. "Do Mum and Dad know you're here now?"
"Wellll they know I'm out of town for a while, so like. If they don't put that together it's not my fault." And probably it wouldn't be an issue, until the day they inevitably decide to turn their weird tracker eyes in her direction upon remembering a perceived failing or flaw she's not around to immediately correct. The freedom is nice, for now, so she glares pre-emptively at the one person who could ruin it. "Do not elaborate for them."
