People keep claiming to hear different melodies. I wonder if it's not actually a sound, and instead a mental effect that our brains only interpret as a sound.

Maybe. Might explain why it's harder to pin down. But I'm positive that what I heard during the storm is the same as during the pulse, so I don't know if that counts for anything.

Maybe it's due to the unidentified radiation that spiked during both the storm and the pulse. An interaction with our Liminal blood that causes us to think we hear a song?

Or it actually is a sound, but it's not operating the way we believe sound should work. As usual, the rifts laugh in the face of the known laws of physics.

They could be emitting the radiation on their own. Or this is a mutation influenced by the strange radiation, and its signature is written into the birds somehow? Hard to say, without a recording or specimen to study.

I haven't heard this song myself, and I was present during both the pulse and the storm. I don't know if that actually means anything, or it's just that I'm not as attuned to music as you are.
