"I think you're probably nicer than you realize. But maybe you feel like you have to put up a front to avoid being hurt. That's okay, though—a lot of us do," Whit says sympathetically. He gives the astronaut a big, gentle bear hug because he feels like he might need it.

"Maybe in another life, we could've been friends."
