While Jack's approach of exclusively noncommittal, monosyllabic responses might throw off most people, Jorgensborg doesn't seem to mind at all and is more than willing to just listen to himself talk at length. Somehow, though, Jack finds himself being legitimately drawn in by the man's grandiose confidence through every anecdote, discussion of theory, or occasional bit of gossip (91).
