But here's a group of giggling people, and there's a pair of folks who said something mean to him that one time, so he wrinkles his nose and keeps looking for the least-offensive place to sit.

He does not want to be a bother, but also, Zeke probably isn't going to bother him, so in the end, he waffles back and forth enough that he figures he already looks dumb standing here, so he might as well ask.
"Is it okay if I sit here if I promise I won't bother you? Feel free to say no," Lou says apologetically, gesturing at the ground because he's too sleepy to realize that nobody's music anyway right now.
